• This is a very versatile rock and style that lends itself to a wide variety of locations.
• It is particularly successful in large wall situations.
• The wall is not grouted allowing it to acquire a very natural look as it ages.
• In suburban situations close to the house, clients need to be aware that boulder walls can provide a habitat for small animals or reptiles.

Style Considerations

• Any of the quarry rock types can be used to varying affect.
• Varying boulder sizes can be used in the same wall for pleasing effect.
• Split and rounded boulders vary the look as well.
• Hand split sandstone boulders are excellent for use in “feature wall” situations.

Construction

• For walls greater that one meter in height above ground, Engineers drawings and specifications are required for local authority approval.
• Our approach common to all walls is to ensure they are well drained by using 100mm Ag-Pipe, 20mm blue metal screenings and Geo Fabric as required.
• Quality materials are used to ensure durability.
• The rock is faced consistent with the ‘pitch angle’ of the wall to maximise the aesthetic appeal.
• Excavator and Bobcat access is essential to facilitate construction.
